Horatio Augusta was born in 1974. He is a jazz singer and musician. He plays the clarinet and the trumpet. He grew up listening to jazz music. His father played the piano in several jazz bands and at area jazz clubs. Horatio's mother owns and operates a jazz club called Impressions of Jazz. Horatio did not like playing at first. He often would not practice. He had a hard time learning songs because he would not practice like he should. Once, Horatio walked off stage abruptly during a jazz recital. He father did not allow him to play again for a full year. Horatio was in the school band at the time, his father would not allow him to play in the band anymore either. Horatio was a popular student during this time. After his father removed him from the band, he was no longer popular. Nineteen-ninety marked a change for Horatio. He began to practice more often. He practiced so much that he had to be told to do something else besides practicing. He was allowed to rejoin the band. He was given the lowest spot in the band. He had to earn the first chair spot. He was the first chair of the woodwind section by the middle of the school year. Horatio received the coveted Maddocha Band Student of the Year Award in 1991. He received the NSW Music Scholarship in 1992. This is a very popular scholarship in the state of Maddocha. Horatio was a popular musician in college. He played and sang at his mother's club during college. His father served as his manager. The club was usually packed whenever he played. Horatio met Temperance Davidson in 1995. She was the Vice President of Jazz & Such Records. Horatio signed with Jazz & Such Records in 1997. Horatio released his first CD in 1999 entitled Songs Played By Horatio Augusta. He is working on a CD to be released in beginning of the year. |
